Why aren't we Superheroes? | Mission Blog

If you ask people what they gain from being fit, they will most likely respond with the energy and psychological benefits such as being more confident, more energetic, thinking more clearly... But what can you DO now day-in and day-out that an unfit person can't do? People who exercise and eat right are not normal. “Normal” is sitting in front of the TV for hours a day drinking Lord knows what and eating whatever is on the commercials. Fit and Healthy people are… SUPERNORMAL!
We are stronger, faster, more flexible, and have more endurance than the average person, so why aren’t we using that for more than just being a walking statue showing off our muscles? So what if you can leg press 700 lbs? So what if you can bench press 300 lbs? How are you using that ability?
- I saved time the other day by carrying my grocery bags in one hand and carrying two 3-gallon water bottles in the other.
- When I come to some barriers that I need to walk around, I will be more likely to jump over it.
- I don't have to waste time driving around for parking spots, because I take the ones that are further away
- I run places to get there sooner
Maybe, just maybe, there would be more fit people if unfit people saw us acting in more ways that to them may seem a tad super-human: if there were TANGIBLE benefits other than... "I'll be healthier"
This is a call to arms people... show the world that being fit gives you REAL viewable benefits other than what your pecs, back, and legs look like. Show people how you can USE them to gain an advantage that they don't have... YET, then encourage them to achieve!
GO FORTH, and BE AWESOME!
